Paynes Prairie in November
Join us for three nights of camping as we enjoy the great birding & antiques in this area.
This is a beautiful old Florida with lots to do including bird watching, hiking, biking and antiquing in Micanopy and surrounding area.
Paynes Prairie State Park is located on US 441 between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida.
Our Rally will begin with a potluck dinner Tuesday night at 5:00pm at the Host Site #14, followed by an evening campfire and social.
Weather permitting we will have campfires & a social each night as well as a pizza night.
On Wednesday, Thursday & Friday participants can take leisurely Ranger led walks in the park; ride bikes in the park or to nearby Micanopy; visit the nearby points of interest such as the Marjorie Rawlings Historic Homestead at Cross Creek;
Florida Natural History Museum in Gainesville and the University of Florida Bat House from which 20,000 bats leave at sunset for their evening feeding.
We anticipate a bird walk from the campground down to the lake with Mary & Hugh Nicolay who originally started the Paynes Prairie rallies.
Participants must make their own camping reservations for Paynes Prairie State Park by visiting www.ReserveAmerica.com, or by calling (800) 326-3521. Early reservations are suggested as the campground may fill a few months before the rally. Your Rally Leader s have reserved Sites 10 & 14.
