San Francisco Bay Area Nature Adventure
Sept 30-October 4 2019
by Sam and Laura Hutkins
Experience the outdoors on the California coast just 40 miles north of San Francisco, but far away from its urban vibe!
Bring your hiking boots to beautiful, tranquil Olema. The rally includes a guided nature hike by a local naturalist learning about the protected flora and fauna of the fog zone overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a picnic in a private nature preserve.
Some of the other interesting elements of the area that you can explore on your own are the Pt. Reyes lighthouse and tule elk; the Ham Radio station that was first to receive the message from Hawaii on December 7, 1941; sparkling mead tasting at the local vintner; quaint Pt. Reyes Station, home to fine restaurants, bakery, and renown Cowgirl creamery, and taking a Wednesday evening bio-luminescence kayak trip in Tomales Bay .
